Webster Hall – The oldest night club in New York City was revamped and voted best club in NYC

Posted in Night Clubs in New York City on 04.04.10

It all starts down on 11th Street, where you head toward the main doors, you begin to see the deep stairwell-to-nowhere is now an entry point, with a nifty neon sign directing you to “The Studio”.

A intimate area designed to hold about 300 people while bands and DJ play a buffer of alternative rock and electronic music. This definitely does justice to the modern sound of New York.

The Marlin Room is still only a few steps away, and here you find even more fun and ways to enjoy your self. They’ve put in new furniture and a new bar that has shifted toward the back. Where once DJ were forced to spin from that small raised space in the wall. If you head up the stairs and pass through the still-undefined lounge/ bar area to the Grand Ballroom that still looks “somehow” familiar. However, the back wall DJ booth has been modified as the selector now permanently holds fort on the large stage – with that gigantic TV screen still in place.

Finally, the upstairs balcony still offers all the trappings of a VIP area–sweeping view, a separate room–but the story will remain the same, as this upper deck will remain mostly open to all, with little velvet-rope pre-tention.

All in all, the new Webster Hall is looking great. And according to some online sources It was voted the best night club in New York City.

3 things you can do to avoid getting drugged while in a night club in New York City

Posted in Night Clubs in New York City on 28.03.10

Unfortunately we live in a day and age where drugs are so advanced that we can’t recognize them when they are slipped in our drinks. So to avoid getting drugged I have come up with 3 tips on how to be more careful when drinking and ordering drinks in any night club in New York City.

1.Have the bottle opened in front of you

People often don’t pay attention to this but having your beer or any other drink opened in front of you is really important, It will automatically eliminate your bartender as the potential person who slipped in something in your drink.

Unfortunately many people miss on this and yet some clubs are known to have suspicious bartenders. This is important to keep in mind.

2.Be careful how you hold your glass

Often at the crowded night clubs in New York City it is common to be bumped in and have a drug dropped in your glass. To reduce such a possibility you can hold your glass with your palm over its top. This way when you walk across the club with your glass and you bump into someone you can be assured that the chances of something slipped in your drink is minimal.

3.Leave an empty glass at the table

Never go on the dance floor when you haven’t drank your drink. If you leave a drink behind chances are, if left unattended, that someone might slip something inside. It is much better to finish off your drink and then have some care free fun.

These are just some of the ways you can take care your self in any night club in New York City. There are many more which I’m sure you can think of by your self.

Until next time :)

7 Things I don’t Like about Night Clubs in New York

Posted in Night Clubs in New York City on 26.03.10

1.Suspicious looking club owners

Some night clubs in New York City have really suspicious owners that can creep you out when you are sober and really scare the living crap out of you when you are drunk. The thing is they mostly go for the tough-look or the mafia kind of image. And to be honest, as much as I enjoy their clubs I really don’t feel comfortable being there. At least what they could to is lighten up their avatar.

2.Drunk people

I can not stress enough how much I’m irritated with severely drunk people in night clubs. Perhaps it’s just me but most of the time when I go out there is always some drunk fool trying to get all the attention while he does some stupid crap.

Another thing I don’t like about those kind of people is, while my buddies and me get drunk we at least control our self not to do stupid shit, they overdo it and then they start falling down and almost get stomped to death if it’s a crowded club.

And let’s not forget, who ever went to a bathroom only to find a drunk guy pissing all over the place. Just plain sick if you ask me.

3.Homeless and other weird people

I usually really feel sorry for homeless people and I try to give them a few dollars here and there when I can. But what really bothers me is when they come in front of a night club while you are waiting to get in and engage you in a conversation about something completely irrelevant and won’t stop talking. On top of it all they keep following you until you go into the club. This all wouldn’t be so bad at all if some clubs wouldn’t have a waiting line in front of them.

4.Pushy girls who don’t stop yapping

I like going to night clubs in New York City because I can meet lot’s of new people. It’s when I meet the kind of people that make me feel sorry that I went out that night.

It’s usually some girl that looks weird and desperate. They just won’t stop talking to you. Even when you excuse your self politely and go around the club to meet other people they come after you like you invited them to come.

The worst thing is they ruin all newly started conversations with other people. This is usually the main reason we go to another club.

5.Guys with loud speakers in front of the club

How many times has this happened: you are waiting in front of the club, waiting to get in and some guy with a car parks in front, opens the windows or the trunk, and starts playing loud music, ruining it for everybody who came in that night to have some fun.

6.A Bad DJ

Nothing, and I really mean nothing, sucks more then when someone organizes a private party in a club and instead of the usual DJ some wannabe DJ comes along.

The only reason why they are there is because they know the guy who organized the party, and the worst part is: they couldn’t beat-match and mix music even to save their own life.

If anything can kill a mood then it’s when a DJ starts playing one song, crosses over to the next song in a way that everybody in the club stops having fun and start to stare at the DJ as if wanting him to catch on fire.

7.Badly kept bathrooms

Many night clubs in New York City promote high class standard of service and fun. And this is all fun, but on a busy night their bathrooms smell and look like crap. All usually stinks of piss, from drunk people pissing all over the place, and the toilets are all occupied with people who are doing drugs. Sad really.

7 Tips on How to Behave in Any Night Club in New York City

Posted in Night Clubs in New York City on 23.03.10

1.Smile

One thing that is in common in every night club in New York City is that all the people have a smile on their face. Smiles project confidence and happiness. And trust me, nobody likes a person who’s all serious on a Friday or Saturday night in a club.

2.Be polite

Being polite is just a sign of good etiquette. And in a society of people who aren’t well mannered you will come as a refreshment to the scene. Always greet people with a smile, make them feel comfortable around you and they will like you as if you were made out of chocolate.

3.Don’t hold your drink in front of your torso

Holding a drink in front of you while you talk to somebody denotes that you are guarding yourself from that person or that you feel discomfort on the topic at hand. Lower your beer bottle or put it on a table and don’t play with it. You don’t want to come off as nervous. Show that you feel comfortable with who you are and people will like you.

4.Don’t stand still in one spot

People who do so just come off as creepy, especially if they don’t have any friends around them. Keep in mind that there are always some weird people in each of the night clubs in New York City, and you have to watch your self and be careful who you meet. On the other hand it’s a different situation if you are talking to someone, but standing still all by your self is just plain creepy.

5.Watch your posture

Not many people notice how they hold themselves while standing, as a result they hunch forward at times and as a result come off as being weird. Always stand straight, keep your shoulders slightly back, chest slightly out and keep your hands out of your pockets at all times. You don’t want to seam as if you are hiding something.

6.Be careful where you sit down

Many interactions happen at tables and thus how you sit down and where you sit down really matter. You must observe how everybody is sitting at the table and then position your self accordingly. Trust me: you don’t want to sit in between two people that seam like a couple or are about to become a couple. Many fights in night clubs start because of stupid things like that. As a rule of thumb ask how they all know each other and then either sit next to the person you wish to talk to or sit on some chair and append to the group in that way.

7.Never talk about any serious and boring stuff – seriously

How many times have you gone to one of your favorite night clubs in New York City and only to get there and find your friends all involved into a serious discussion about anything.

IT’S FRIDAY/SATURDAY NIGHT. HAVE FUN AND LEAVE THE DISCUSSIONS FOR SUDNAY

7 Things I like about Night Clubs in New York City

Posted in Night Clubs in New York City on 21.03.10

1.The atmosphere

It is amazing how fun night clubs in New York City can be. The owners really know what they are doing and really understand what people want. It always amazes me how such places end up crowded with so happy and joyful people that absolutely thrive on meeting new people. And leads me to the second thing I like most about night clubs.

2.The people

I always enjoy meeting new people in night clubs. Most of the time they are really friendly and want to meet new people. You might run into some people that aren’t friendly but most of the time you can just turn around and start interacting with a different person. Chances are you’ll run into a more friendly person.

3.The music

Personally I really like a good DJ at a night club. A bad DJ, even at a club I like to hang out more often, is a deal breaker for me. There is nothing better then having a professional DJ scan the audience and feel its beat and then matching it with the music. As the night climaxes the beats go faster and faster and they just make you wanna move your body – even if you don’t know how to dance.

4.The ambient

During any type of holiday or any kind of festivity I’m always fascinated how some night clubs in New York City manage to decorate themselves. Everything is so nice and shiny, just looking at it makes you want to put a smile on your face. Some night club owners forget how important the effect of the ambient is on the people in the club.

5.Theme nights

Things like “Tequila night” or “Vodka Party” are really cool things in night clubs. Simply because you can get drunk faster, for usually less money, and you meet people much easier once you buy them a drink or two.

6.Dance floor

Perhaps it’s just me, but I love dancing, and a nice and big dance floor gets my vote any time. For me personally, and from what I’ve seen, a lot of other people love to dance. So having a enough space to move your body is definitely a big plus in my book.

7.The Experience

As many night clubs in New York City as there are, they all try to give us as good as an experience as they can. You really must appreciate the effort they’ve put into creating it. Once you really start thinking about all the people that made the effort to provide you with a fun night in your life you really start to see and appreciate the effort they made.

How To Have Great Fun in Night Clubs in New York City

Posted in Night Clubs in New York City on 20.03.10

It’s been a while since I went clubbing. And boy do night clubs in New York City have to offer some fun… There is nothing more fun then gathering your friends and heading out to party all night.

Dancing, having drinks, meeting new people, discovering new and exciting places that New York has to offer. But of course, each night of clubbing has its own set of rituals. Depending If we want to go dancing or just hang out with some good music in the background we all have to do our little rituals. First we all go downtown and we meet up, the whole crew. Then we all grab a bite to eat and head down to find ourself the spot for the night.

We always try to go to a different place since there are so many night clubs in New York City to choose from. Sometimes when we all feel bummed out we go to relax in a lounge bar or an ordinary pub. However, we always try to have a good time and dance as much as we can.

We mostly look out for clubs with good DJ’s since we feel that the music is most important. Then, based on how and what we’ve eaten we decide weather to drink or not. Mostly we go for tequila shots so we try to find a club where there is a tequila night.

Most of the times we fail at finding such a place, but with a city like New York you can never tell what you might run into.

Once we settle down and some club we take over the bar and start drinking. Good prices are always nice, but are not mandatory for a good time. Personally I’d  rather pay a bit extra for my drinks and enjoy a good DJ then listen to some crappy DJ show off his skills for the first time…. (this kind of things make me wanna puke)

Then we all go to the dance floor and depending on the type of music we either dance or we engage people into conversations. It’s interesting how many people are friendly at the dance floor.

There are always a few of them who think they are the king/queen of the club and they are not to be talked to but we don’t let those people spoil our night.

Once the night is over, we all head back home to sleep, because  tomorrow we will be looking for another night club in New York City. There are always new clubs to be discovered, always new people to meet, and always good times to have.

And just when you taught you went trough all the clubs there is always some new one that opens up. At least it’s never boring when you go out clubbing, there are so many options that you have available that it’s overwhelming to say the least.  And the best part: all you need is an open mind and some time to spare :)
